Blissful Tips for Blissful Feet!

Today, let’s look one of the best if not the best way to bring joy to your feet— stretching! This is some really sweet info I received from our friends over at Vivian Lou. If you’re like me and you just LOVE the look of high heels, you know that wearing them comes with some pain. In order to prevent yourself from this pain, it is vital that you stretch your toes and feet –which hold more than 100 tendons— to strengthen them.

Here’s a list of five exercises that you can do absolutely anywhere to prevent high heel pain:kris-atomic-73940-unsplash

1. Arch and ball relieving foot massage. You may need some extra help with this one, at least from a tennis ball! Standing near a chair or stable piece of furniture balance, Place the ball under one foot and roll it up and down in small, circular motions. Remember to focus on the arch of your foot, using different pressure and intensity as needed. Continue for 45 seconds on each foot.

2. Pain-reducing toe curls. Remember to do this while sitting down. Place a pencil or a small pen on the ground and pick it up using your toes. Hold this pose for 3 seconds and repeat this 10 times on each foot.

3. Strengthening toe raises for pain relief. This one is particularly great for leg cramps that you can get from wearing heels and walking in them wrong. Using your bare feet, raise your toes against the wall while keeping your heel on the floor. Lean towards the wall and feel the stretch in your calf. Hold this pose for 12-15 seconds.

4. Strengthening calf stretches for the Achilles tendon. Find a step and stand on the edge with your shoes off. Focus your weight on the balls of your feet and extend your heels off the edge of the step, gently dropping them down. Slowly raise your heels up. Repeat this process 10 times.

5. Ankle rotations for ankle strength. While barefoot, stand on your right leg and raise your left knee to hip height, grabbing your thigh for balance and support. Moving only your ankle, slowly turn your foot clockwise 15 times and counterclockwise 15 times. Repeat with your right leg.jaclyn-moy-571597-unsplash

Enjoy each exercise and don’t strain! Make sure to do these on or near stable furniture to safely maintain your balance. I like to do these exercises and use Peppermint essential oils to help me prevent the pain that comes with wearing heels! This tips will surely have you slaying every holiday party!
